Illinois State Capitol

It was a busy day at our capitol!
When we were there, the Senate was in session (We got the opporunity to listen from the Senate Gallery).  They were discussing bills that had already passed in the House of Representatives.  Now the senators were going to vote on the bills.  Lobbyists gathered together under the dome trying to persuade the congressmen to vote their way.

Here's the House of Representatives.  They were scheduled to go into session at 1:00.  So we had a chance to view the empty room.  We also got to meet Representative Dan Reitz.

  • Fun Fact:  The doors of the House and Senate Chambers are 12 ft. high and weigh 300 lbs. each.

  • Senator Luechtefeld was busy while we were there, but his secretary told Miss Liefer thanks for visiting.  He was sorry he couldn't meet up with us, but he did get a chance to meet with the second bus of Waterloo students.
    so beautiful

It is located in the Hall of Governors near the Governor's office.

The pictures are great. I loved them. Yhe field trip to Springfield was awesome! The 2 places I liked the most was the Lincoln Museum and the old Capitol Buildig. I liked the Lincoln Museum because there is a lot of stuff that tells about Lincoln and stuff he had. I liked the old Capatol Building a lot because Aberaham Lincoln was in there and you could have been standig were he was stanig and it was cool to think that.

Seriously, I am not exaggerating , This was the best Trip Ever!!!!!!!!!!! Lincolns Eyes was amazing. It made me jump a lot. The Ghosts in the Library was creepy. I cant believe the guy was a ghost. I learned a lot about Abraham Lincoln, and his family. I saw John Wilkes Booth. At first we had no idea it was him. We were scared
