Travel Log Update

Remember the post on January 3...
http://missliefer.blogspot.com/2013/01/travel-log.html

Well, it's one month later... and look where we've "visited" so far!

New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Indiana, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, and Colorado!

Everyday we anxiously wait for the mail to see if we have received new postcards.

Our collection is growing!

A special treat!  From New Jersey-- sand and salt water taffy!  THANK YOU!

our postcard collection on display

Learning all about the places we could visit in NH

Miss Liefer took this photo today!  Soon our chalkboard ledge will be full!
THANK YOU to everybody who has had family members and friends participate so far!
We appreciate your help as we learn more about our country.

This is an ongoing project until May...any predictions about how many states we will visit?
Maybe we'll even travel to other places in the world!

How Much Would I Weigh on the Moon?

The terms "mass" and "weight" are often interchangeable in our everyday lives, but to scientists they mean different things.

Mass is a measure of how much matter it contains
Weight is a measure of the pull of GRAVITY between you and the planet you are standing on.

In science class today (page 426) we explored this concept.

Check out this site:
http://www.exploratorium.edu/ronh/weight/

*we weigh less on the moon, because the pull of gravity on the moon is 1/6 of Earth's gravity*
